We live in on a property with Gran and Grandad, their two daughters (me being one of them) who each have their two children living with them. This brings three generations together with the youngest just having turned 13 and the oldest just having turned 75. So Christmas lunch this year was going to be for 9 (one grandchild has a boyfriend). Grandad has come into contact in the last year or so with a mate he had at univarsity, both men now being retired. Grandad having planned for his retirement better than his mate.

Grandad decided that he would invite his mate for Christmas lunch, and so, after preparing the meal and driving across town to fetch our guest and driving him home at the end of the day - this was the email that was sent from our Christmas Day guest:

"Thank you SO much for giving me the best Christmas Day since the only one I've had with my own family for 50 years! I'm still glowing with pleasure and gratitude!
To be in a wholeseome, inter-generational family gathering like yours was a matchless tonic for body, mind and spirit.
With most grateful thanx and every blessing."

It feels good to have been a part of such a special day for our guest.

Maybe this will start a trend for us?

I love to shop at Aldi's. To get your shopping cart you have to put a quarter in the cart to retrieve it. When you are done shopping you take your cart back to the stall and get your quarter back. It is so fun to give your cart with the quarter still in it to the next person you see heading toward the cart stall. The smile on their faces is as if you gave them a million dollars and so is the feeling in your heart.

I had driven all day and was about an hour and a half away from home with a full tank of gas and sixty-one dollars to my name. I saw a young woman standing beside of a pick up truck and a man up under the hood trying to resusitate it. I pulled up and asked if they needed help. NO they said I'll work. I waited and then pulled on up and returned asking if they wanted me to wait until it started.
OK they said that would be good. It didn't start. I began to follow the few feet that the Lazarus effect kicked in only to die once more. I had them to get in and use my phone they still had six hours to go. It was a young step father and his daughter who had spent one semester in college only to find herself pregnant and her grades down. She was coming home to begin a new life other than she had planned. I took them into town and tried to find a church that would help but it was late of a night and I didn't know what to do. I paid for their motel room and gave them the rest of my money to eat on until help could get to them. I had a month to wait until I would have any money, but I didn't tell them that. I could walk to work it wouldn't bother me. I got them fixed up and thanked God or his angels whoever would be able to hear that I was able to help them. I got home and a neighbor had picked up my mail at the post office while I was gone and shoved it under my door.
I opened the envelopes to find a repayment from the postal service on a money order that had not made its mark. It totaled 61 dollars. The exact same as I had spent on the young people who needed my help. I believe.

I went into the local grocery store and waited until no one was in line, gave the cashier $5 (all I had) and told her to put it toward someone's groceries who might need it.

12/30/2010 12:06:53 PM. - alexandria Bacc - st.vincent and the grenadines

This is a good thing to tell the cashier. Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, Ms. Claus, Baby Claus 1 and Baby Claus 2 and Santa Claus 2 will be pleased with you. You are a blessing to him.

I had to resist shoes yesterday even though they were 14.99. I have at least 200 pairs of shoes.

I made 5 food baskets for the needy and will deliver them today and tomorrow in Abilene. I have some more baskets for the very ill too and 7 gifts for the poor. I worked from 5 p.m. until midnight. It was tough filling the sleigh aka suv. Mr. Clause complained that we would not be able to fit all the gifts in their but we did. I have worked very hard this year to make for those less fortunate. I find that giving cleanses my soul and keeps me busy so I keep the pounds off.

My oldest adopt a son is in his 30's. He will get a t-shirt and 20.00 gift card to Walmart. My oldest adopt daughter is in her 50's and she will get a gift basket with a blanket and goodies. Wait the oldest is actaully in her 70's I think and she has cancer. She will get a goody basket as well.

Oh my God I forgot my adopt a son's name...my brother knows his so he will tell me. Last year, we gave him a bike I hope he will not be disappointed this year.

Merry Xmas and Happy New Year. We will be in Abilene but I will have my computer so plz email me.
