Each year I go "elfing" on Christmas Eve. I bake or buy alot of goodies and then go around my town and pick random places to take the goodies to. I may go to the Hospital, Firehouse, police station, or anywhere else that people are working on Christmas Eve. I give them goodies and thank them for what they do all year long. Some of them think I'm crazy, but I think most of them really appreciate it. I started to buy things "safety sealed" so they know the goodies are OK. Last year I started to take my daughter with me. When we were done last year she said, "Mom, I still think you're crazy, but I know the people appreciate it." She already has asked me more than once this year if we are going "Elfing" this year. It will be a tradition in my family for a long time I think.

that is very nice. I think I will try that.

That is actually a GREAT idea. I am always looking for ways to let people know that they are appreciated. And in this day and age when the local businesses are open on Christmas Eve and Christmas (which I think is HORRIBLE) this is a wonderful way to show them that you are thinking and thanking them. Well done for a great idea.

My students get a raffle ticket every time they complete all their homework. At the end of the week we call out ticket numbers; whoever has that number can choose a prize from the box. One Friday, I got a new student. He obviously didn't have any tickets and couldn't participate in the raffle. Without my knowledge, all the students gave my new student a ticket. He ended up with 19 tickets that day and his number was even pulled! Kids could be cruel and clicky, but my 4th grade students from Newark, NJ are truly the kindest!

12/18/2009 1:32:04 PM. - Arunima - New York

That was so nice. I know my best friend would do that.

When I was down in the valley for a mission trip, I had the same shoes as this girl who was about my age, maybe a couple years younger. I saw that her shoes were worn out and had hole in them, so I gave her my shoes and said that she could have them. She smiled and gave me a hug. We became friends after that and I talked to her about Jesus. She accepted Him as her Savior and Lord :)

12/18/2009 2:47:28 PM. - CAT - USA

That was a very christen thing to do and I am happy that you
praise and worship GOD THE HEAVENLY LORD!

12/19/2009 6:24:04 AM - sc - devon uk

im not a beleiver but this has inspired me thankyou!

12/13/2010 12:59:58 PM. - Rebecca - Williamston, MI

Dearest "not a believer": God, the heavenly Lord believes in YOU! He believes in you SO much that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for your sins (and we all "got em"). I pray that you will seek out a Christian friend or neighbor and get more information about the Man who calmed the sea, among other great things. Like feeding 5000 people with a little boy's lunch. I guess the boy "preformed" a random act of kindness by giving up his lunch! God bless you

I have wanted to help people all my life and if I had the money i would have but I'm just a kid... My life is a nightmare and nobody knows cause I'm alone in the world and their all having more fun than me... I love to bake and I wish that someday I'll have my own shop so I can give to people... mateial items dont matter much to me... but if you have a family and you dont get anything for Christmas, YOU aren't alone in the world anymore... Merry Christmas... Jesus Loves YOU... AND just so you dont feel alone in the world share this story with others...

12/18/2009 8:34:35 AM - Cassidy Rae - Victoria

Don't worry. You'll get your chance to help out. In fact, here's an idea. If you love baking, then why don't you bake cookies or something for homeless people? They'd love that.
Jesus Loves YOU too.
Have a great one.
Love, Cassidy.

I teach middle school. I started my lesson asking what are Random Acts of Kindness. My students gave many examples. My room was set up in stations of Random Acts of Kindness activities. One station was called Christmas Cards for our Soldiers. These students wrote the most wonderful, encouraging messages of praise and well wishes to our soldiers serving this great country of ours. It was humbling to see the kind words and thoughts expressed by my students. As they were doing this, we listened to the online Christmas music. Thank you for such a wonderful site.

12/18/2009 7:51:23 AM - Randy G. (the webmaster of XmasFun) - Rancho Santa Margarita, CA

Patty,
Thank you so much for the kind words. You just made my day! It's heartwarming to hear that your students are learning to just do the right thing and be great people.

I'm especially happy to hear that educators occasionally find something here on XmasFun that's of some use in their classroom. You folks are shaping the future of the world and your efforts are appreciated.

Merry Christmas to you and your students!

Randy G.
